দুটি ঘূর্ণিঝড় ও লঘুচাপের কারণে বৃষ্টিতে আলু রোপন কম হয়ে গেছে। অপরিপক্ক আলু নিয়ে এসেছেন কৃষক এবং এতে সার্বিক উৎপাদন নিয়ে শঙ্কা আছে।
আলুর দামে ক্রেতার পাশাপাশি বিক্রেতার ঘোর চালানো ভালোভাবে সম্ভব হচ্ছে না। দুই পক্ষের বিস্ময়ের মধ্যে একাধিক জেলার চাষিরা জানিয়েছেন, এবার আলু পরিপক্ক হতে সময় লাগছে। তাই বাজারে সরবরাহ কম।
একজন গবেষক একই তথ্য জানিয়ে বলেছেন, আলু রোপনের সময় বৃষ্টি এ সমস্যার প্রধান কারণ।
আবার বছরজুড়ে আলুর দাম বেশি থাকার কারণে কৃষককে এবার বেশি টাকা খরচ করে চাষ করতে হয়েছে।
চাষিরা আলুর দাম বেশি পেয়ে অপরিপক্ক অবস্থাতেই তুলে ফেলছেন। এতে সার্বিক উৎপাদনে প্রভাব পড়তে পারে বলেও আশঙ্কা করছেন সেই বিশেষজ্ঞ।
কৃষকের মাঠের দর থেকে ঢাকায় খুচরা বাজার দরের মধ্যেও পার্থক্য খুব একটা বেশি নয়। ফলে কৃষককে ঠকিয়ে ব্যবসায়ীরা অতি মুনাফা করছেন, এই বিষয়টিরও প্রমাণ পাওয়া যায়নি।
চাষিদের কাছ থেকে তথ্য মিলেছে তারা ৪৫ থেকে ৫০ টাকা কেজি হিসেবে বিক্রি করছেন । সেটি পরিবহন করে নিয়ে এসে ঢাকায় পাইকারি বাজারে ৬০ টাকার কমে বিক্রি হচ্ছে, খুচরায় কোথাও ৭০, কোথাও কিছু বেশিতে বিক্রেতারা। দুই দিন ধরে দামটা পড়তির দিকে।
এক সপ্তাহ বা ১০ দিনের মধ্যে সরবরাহ বাড়লে দাম কমে আসবে এমন কথাও বলছেন ব্যবসায়ী ও চাষিরা।News BD Online || share news 24
মাস ছয়েক ধরে আলু ও পেঁয়াজের দর নিয়ে নানা কিছুই ঘটেছিল । ভারত রপ্তানি বন্ধ করে দেওয়ার পর আগাম পেঁয়াজের দাম কমাতে পারছে না। আগের বছরের চেয়ে আড়াই থেকে তিন গুণ দামে কিনতে হচ্ছে ক্রেতাদেরকে।
আলু যে কোনো সময় চলে আসবে, এ কারণে অনুমতিপত্র নিয়েও সেভাবে আমদানি করেননি ব্যবসায়ীরা।
অন্যান্য সময় বছরের এ সময়ে আলু চলে আসলে ক্ষমতা হারায় পুরানটা। কিন্তু এখনও বাজারে পুরান আলুর ‘রাজত্বই’ চলছে। দাম নির্ধারণ করছে গত বছরের উৎপাদন। নতুন আলু তুলনামূলক কম, থাকলেও আকারে ছোট।
রংপুর কৃষি অধিদপ্তরের উপপরিচালক এনামুল হক বলেন নতুন আলুর দাম উঠলে পুরান আলুর দাম পড়ে যায়। এবার পুরান আলুর দাম পড়েনি। রংপুরে পুরান আলুই ৫০ টাকা, আর নতুন আলুর দাম ৬০ থেকে ৭০ টাকা বিক্রি হচ্ছে।
গত বছর এই সময়টায় আলুর খুচরা দর ছিল ২০ টাকার আশেপাশে, সেটি এবার ৭০ টাকারও ছাড়িয়েছে। ক্রেতারা বিরক্ত, হতাশ, ক্ষুব্ধ আর হতভম্ভ। কী হচ্ছে আসলে?
বৃহস্পতিবার রাজধানীর কারওয়ান বাজার ও মোহাম্মদপুরের কৃষি মার্কেটে খুচরা পর্যায়ে নতুন আলু ৬০ থেকে ৬৫ টাকা কেজি দরে বেচতে দেখা গেছে। বিক্রেতারা জানালেন, দুইদিন আগে দাম ছিল ৮০ টাকা।
কৃষক ব্যবসায়ীরা যা বলছেন
দাম কেন এবার এত চড়া?-সেই প্রশ্নের জবাব খুঁজতে বেশ কয়েকজন চাষি । ঢাকায় সরবরাহকারীর সঙ্গে কথা বলে আগাম আলু পরিপক্ক হতে এবার সময় লেগেছে বেশি। ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের প্রভাবে বৃষ্টির কারণে মাঠ প্রস্তুতে বিলম্ব এর প্রধান কারণ।
ঠাকুরগাঁও সদর উপজেলায় ৩০ বিঘা জমিতে আলু চাষ করেছেন মো. ওয়াদুদ হোসেন। মঙ্গল ও বুধবারে তিনি মানভেদে কেজি প্রতি পেয়েছেন ৪৫ থেকে ৫০ টাকা দরে।

ব্যবসায়ীরা তার ক্ষেত থেকে আলু উঠিয়ে নিয়ে যায় জানিয়ে এই চাষি বলেন এখনো আলু পরিপক্ব না হওয়ায় সব ক্ষেত থেকে আলু নিতে পারছে না। পরিপক্ব হইতে আরো কয়টা দিন লাগবে।
কারওয়ান বাজারের বিক্রমপুর ভান্ডারের আড়ৎদার মো. শামছুল হক বলেন আলু লাগাইতে পারে নাই। দেরিতে লাগানো হইছে, তাই পরিপক্ব হইতেও সময় লাগতাছে। রোপন করার পর ৬০-৭০ দিন লাগে আলু পরিপক্ব হইতে।”
অক্টোবরের শেষে ঘূর্ণিঝড় হামুনের প্রভাবে ঝড় বৃষ্টিতে আলুর ক্ষেত প্রস্তুতে বেশ ঝামেলায় পড়তে হয় কৃষককে। নভেম্বরের শুরুতে মৌসুমি লঘুচাপ এবং মধ্যভাগে আরেক ঘূর্ণিঝড় ‘মিধিলি’র কারণেও টানা বৃষ্টি হয়।
